Carbon footprint software that calculates and certifies for you.
Xain is software that automatically calculates and certifies the product carbon footprint and the Scope 3 emissions of companies. It starts from the technical documentation you already have, uses physical life-cycle factors and applies an ISO 14067-certified methodology verified by LRQA.
Key figures
3.21%
average deviation from data measured at the factory, calculating from manufacturing technical documentation.
2–3h
of calculation per product in the Xain engine.
2–3days
working days until you have the verified product certificate.
<10min
of your work in Xain Insight: the purchases spreadsheet from your ERP. Results in 1–2 weeks.
Xain is not a consultancy, nor a calculator that depends on you filling in forms. It is a calculation engine that reads the technical documentation of your products and purchases and returns a traceable result. The same engine serves the first certificate and the ten-thousandth, so the cost of each additional certificate is marginal.
What problem does Xain solve?
Your customers, your tenders or your own sustainability report ask for an emissions figure, and you do not have it at product level. Measuring it by hand takes weeks, relies on every supplier answering and needs someone who knows how to do it. Xain starts from what already exists in your company: drawings, data sheets, photos, manuals, the bill of materials or the purchase lines in your ERP.
What solutions does Xain offer?
The technology is the same: one company’s product is another’s Scope 3. The services are separate. Whoever measures what they sell asks for the product certificate. Whoever measures what they buy asks for Scope 3. The tool is adapted for SBTi.
Each solution answers a different need and shares the same method.
- Product carbon footprint: the certificate for a product, with a registration number and traceability down to the factor of each node.
- Scope 3 for purchases: Categories 1 (purchased goods and services) and 2 (capital goods), measured with physical factors and not with the amount on the invoices.
- Per-shipment certificate: the footprint by reference, SKU, colour, destination or shipment.
- For suppliers: what to do when your customer asks you for the footprint of your product.
How do you ask for it and how do you receive it?
You can work by email, through the web platform or by integrating Xain with your ERP through the API. In every case the result arrives with the breakdown of the materials and processes that make it up, so you can review it and improve.
Why physical factors?
A physical factor starts from what the product is: material, weight, process (including its energy) and transport. A spend-based factor starts from what it costs. With the first, two identical products have the same footprint even if their price differs, and a supplier that decarbonises its process sees it reflected. We explain it on the page about physical versus spend-based factors.
Who asks for it inside the company?
- Procurement: needs the Scope 3 of what it buys and to compare suppliers without depending on each one replying.
- Sustainability and ESG: needs a traceable, method-backed figure for its reports and its customers’ requests.
- Product engineering and quality: needs to see which material or process weighs most in each product.
- Sales management and industrial manufacturers: need to answer a tender or a customer with a certificate they can show.
In this section
Product footprint
Certify your product’s carbon footprint with an ISO 14067 method verified by LRQA, from your technical documentation, with registration and traceability.
Scope 3 for purchases
Measure purchased-goods Scope 3 (Categories 1 and 2) with physical factors. Xain Insight needs only the ERP spreadsheet: less than 10 minutes.
Per-shipment certificate
Get the carbon footprint by reference, SKU, colour, destination or shipment. Every Xain certificate has a unique registration number and node traceability.
For suppliers
If your customer asks for the carbon footprint of your product, Xain calculates it from your technical documentation, with no rollout and an ISO 14067 method.
API and integrations
Connect your ERP to the Xain certified engine through a REST API: send purchase lines or products and receive footprint certificates with registration numbers.
